Assistant Director of Engineering

We have an exclusive opportunity in the Maldives, as Assistant Director of Engineering for an ultra-luxury resort. The Assistant Director of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment and systems for the property. As an integral member of the hotel team, the Assistant Director of Engineering will report to the Director of Engineering and work closely with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.

• Oversee the daily operations of the Engineering Department, including preventative maintenance, repairs, and capital improvement projects.
• Ensure all work performed by the Engineering Department is completed on-time, within budget, and to the highest possible standards.
• Collaborate with the Director of Engineering and other department heads to develop and implement an energy management plan that reduces utility costs and increases energy efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to the operation and maintenance of hotel equipment and systems.
• Manage and develop a team of skilled technicians, providing training and development opportunities as needed.
• Review and approve vendor contracts and agreements, ensuring cost-effective pricing and quality services.
• Respond to emergency situations, including power outages and equipment failures, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests and staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a leadership role within an engineering department in the hospitality industry.
• Possess a strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and develop a diverse team of skilled technicians.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure.
• Possess a track record of delivering results and exceeding expectations in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
